Our Story
We Built This
Place for Waylon.
Waylon came to us from a kill shelter in Texas. No history, no guarantees, just a scared puppy with nothing going for him on paper. That didn't last long. He quickly became our 'ride or die' who tagged along on nearly every adventure we went on; Waylon was stoic and protective, yet somehow the kindest and most easygoing soul we've ever known. He almost never whined. He almost never let on that anything was wrong, which turned out to be the problem.
He was so tough that we didn't realize how sick he was until it was too late. We took him in and the same day found out he was terminally ill. We got a couple more weeks with him after that, and while we tried to make the best of it, we were absolutely devastated. All of it happened while this wash was still about half-built. For months afterward we couldn't walk in there without seeing him in it, and we almost didn't finish.
What brought us back was one question: What Would Waylon Do? We knew there was no version of him that wanted us to quit, so we finished it for him. This space carries all of that forward.
